How do you think social media will change in the future? What other trends would you add to the mix? Are they any specific technologies that you think will gain popularity or emerge?

Social media will only get more popular over time and social media will definitely change.  What we see now as social media will only be the start.  As more and more people see the popularity of social media, more people are using it as a tool to broadcast information.  Technology will no doubt improve and with that social media will improve as well.  The quality of these tools will improve and those with a love for technology will jump right in.  It will change in a way that it will become more complex I think.  And although it is more complex, a genius out there will make a way for those who are less technologically inclined to be able to figure it out as well.  I think that more and more people will use hand held devices to access their social media sites rather than going on the computer.  As handheld devices become more and more inclined to mimic a computer, the more likely that our generation will use them to do a lot of their tweeting, face booking, emailing, and blog posting.  Many people might start making their own social media site mimicking many of the popular sites but until one has more options and easy management such as Facebook, none will take over the lead for popular social media sites.
I believe that eventually Facebook will lose its popularity and another one will rise to take its place.  I am safe to say that this site is probably being worked on right now.  Social Media will definitely change in the future, by new technology sweeping the earth or perhaps some other way, but social media will definitely change the future and handheld devices will be the most popular way of accessing it.

  1. I agree with you when you say, " handheld devices become more and more inclined to mimic a computer, the more likely that our generation will use them to do a lot of their tweeting, face booking, emailing, and blog posting " its because even though the handheld device are still improving, like cellphones, tweeting and face booking is already made available for people. I also believe the fact that Facebook will one day "lose its popularity" because as humans we turn out to be unsatisfied with the things we posses, instead we look for something far better and unique while being on track and in sync with the social trend.

  2. I agree with you that social media is just going to get more popular. There are so many different social media sites; the main one being Facebook. And like you said, Facebook will most likely lose peoples interest and people will switch to a different social media site. I feel like Facebook is already becoming not as popular. Twitter is the new Facebook. Most people have already switched their interest from Facebook to Twitter. And that's just the beginning. Facebook will most likely continue to lose people's interest, but those people will just find a new social media site to become attached to instead of the popular Facebook.

  3. I definitely agree with you when you said that a better social media site is probably being worked on right now. It seems that every couple of years there is a new social media site being released. This is only the beginning for social media sites. When we have kids that are in the teens we are going to be amazed with how much social media has changed.

  4. I 110% agree with your blog about the future of social media! We can already see a shift in the way people use handheld devices to tweet, facebook, email, blog etc. where ever they are, whenever they want. The funny thing about it is that these days it's like some people can't live without it every minute of everyday! I myself have witnessed this first hand at my work. I work at a pool for the city of Oshawa as a Pool Supervisor/Lifeguard & you think that swimming in a pool would make people take a break from the social networking lives and put their mobile device down, but think again. I've actually witnessed people bring their phones in the pool while they are swimming with their kids, brothers, sisters, parents etc. It's a little ridiculous, but it could possibly just be a look at what is to come in the future! Water proof phones and complete social media addiction! This is only the beginning.. it will be interesting to see what's next!

  5. I totally agree with you! Social media will only get bigger and better from here. There are so many things people can do with technology and this is just the beginning. Who knows what will happen in the future and what they might think of, but I too believe that Facebook will start to lose its popularity once something better comes out with new advances.
